Bridgetown
Morris Men
Bridgetown dances Cotswold morris which evolved in the
farming villages to the west and north of Oxford in England. Bridgetown is a
traditional all-male morris side that performs dances from the English villages
of Adderbury, Bledington and Ducklington and several dances from Welsh border
region. Cotswold morris dancers wear distinctive bell-pads, arm-bands and cross-sached
'baldricks' as part of their traditional kit. |

Renegade Rose Morris
Renegade Rose
is Portland's newest morris team dancing Cotswold morris from the villages
of Adderbury, Bampton and Fieldtown. Renegade Rose is a mixed team, that
includes children and teenagers who have learned morris dancing from their
parents. We perform at regional festivals and local events throughout the
year.
Dancers
of all ages who are reasonably fit and available for Thursday evening practices
are welcome to join us. |

England's coal-mining communities. Rapper refers to the driving, rhythmic nature
of the stepping whilst the sword-wealding dancers weave intricate figures.

Wild Rose
Garland
Wild Rose performs dances with heritage from Cornwall in the far southwest
to Tyneside in the northeast of England. Wild Rose is a women-only team performing
flowing, complex dances, each dancer bearing a flower garland. From our friendship
with Chesterfield Garland in England, we have added new dances with ribbons,
and others with sticks, sent to us by Chesterfield. Wild Rose is also
the keeper of our Maypole tradition, dances around which symbolize the start
of spring and a day of dance with all morris teams together.
New dancers and
musicians are welcome to join us. We practice weekly,
and perform at multiple events through the year.
